25 of Perth's best fish and chip shops

Plus nangs are now banned in WA (for non-legitimate purposes).

That’s right folks, it’s the first day of freakin’ November. A long, hot summer is bearing down on us faster than you can say, ‘Yeah but it’s a dry heat’, and those Christmas functions are stacking up higher than a snake of beer cups in the Lillee-Marsh stand at the WACA.

But that’s okay, this happens every year! Take a deep breath - in the immortal words of Daniel Bedingfied, we’re gonna get thru this.

HOMES

Behind charming limestone walls lies a Swanbourne gem that’s bursting with personality, with a striking décor and even a secret tunnel and slide. Add a magical garden, and you’ve got the ultimate blend of modern chic and quirkiness…

NEWS

The new regulations mean individual members of the public won’t be able to buy nitrous oxide for “non-legitimate purposes”. Anyone caught selling them illegitimately could face a $6000 on-the-spot fine.

WEEKEND WALK

We’re taking advantage of what feels like one of the last cool weekends of the year and tackling arguably Perth’s best half-day trail - Kitty’s Gorge Walk Trail. It’s the the tail end of waterfall and wildflower season, so get out there and enjoy them while you can!

SEE YOU AT…

Hyde Park on Saturday and/or Sunday

Our fave inner-city park is hosting not one but two free events this weekend. Pop down Saturday arvo for Jazz Picnic in the Park, or Sunday from 2-5pm for some good vibes and family-friendly fun at PrideFEST’s annual Rainbow Picnic.

STAY OF THE DAY

This spot is on a secluded working farm in Triggwell, 27km from Boyup Brook and close to Blackwood Rier and Collie. Lovely views, cosy fireplace, walks to explore, curled up on the deck afterwards… Can’t you picture it?

AFTER WORK DRINKS

$9 pints at The Rosemount Hotel from 4pm

We’re knocking off early to catch the last of this week’s sunshine in the Rosemount’s big, beautiful beer garden. Enjoy $9 pints from 4pm, with a side of what we reckon are some of the best dang chicken tendies in all of Perth.

EAT & DRINK

While for many (smart) people, fish and chips are a year-round joy, others are just heading into the season of seaside picnics, fighting off seagulls, and watching the sunset with some top-tier fish and chips. Here’s 25 of our faves:
