50+ of the best things to do around Margaret River

Plus a huge lineup of fun stuff happening around town this weekend.

Finally got a nibble on “today in history” for one of these intros!

On this day in 1962, Perth officially became known as the City of Light, and it’s actually kinda cute why.

John Glenn became the first American to orbit the Earth in the Friendship 7 spacecraft, and while doing so he flew over Perth. And us being the legends we are, turned our lights on to say “How ya goin’?” The lovely gesture was clearly visible from space and as a result, we became known worldwide as the ‘City of Light’.

A little something for the pub chat this arvo.

While it’s no feat of strength for most of us to come up with a reasonable enough excuse to skip the gym every so often, Revo’s new gym in Rivervale is about to put our resistance training to the test.

WHAT’S ON

So you’re looking for a night out that won’t cost you an arm and a leg, one that’s entertaining while also supporting talent coming out of WA?

WAAPA has just what you’re looking for!

STAYS

With the Labour Day long weekend fast approaching, closely followed by the extra-long Easter long weekend, we’re plotting a trip to one of these stunning Exclusive Escapes south west stays.

TODAY/TONIGHT

The hunt for epic pub deals continues (let’s be honest, it never ends) - and The Breakwater Tavern’s $15 sirloin steak night ain’t a bad shout. In fact, I dare say most of us couldn’t even whip this up cheaper at home.

WHAT’S ON

Not gonna lie, these weekly what’s on articles are getting harder and harder to put together - there’s just so much happening around the place! This weekend Rockingham is putting on a couple of huge free concerts, the Rotto swim is on, there’s a bunch of great little markets to check out, and of course, heaps more.

Throwback Thursday

ICYMI, our Cultural Editor and resident historian Sally Hall went on a deep-dive into Perth’s fashion scene in the 1970s, and the photos are nothing short of spectacular.
