A cult cinny scroll-slinging bakery finds new Leedy home
Plus Vic Park's massive new riverside playground and more.
Last weekend I had the pleasure of experiencing (and it is an experience) Plied and Prejudice, a kind of Drunk History re-telling of arguably Jane Austen’s most famous work. And as someone who doesn’t particularly get around theatre, I had a helluva time.
Why am I telling you this? Because the season wraps up this week, and in the interest of helping out people who always seem to find themselves in the “damn I meant to catch that but ran out of time” camp, thought it worth sharing.

Smidge Bakery (and their cult cinny scrolls) find a new home in Leederville
“I liked the idea of little treats for your mental health, to make your day better.” When teeny-tiny bakery Smidge opened in a Maylands pizza shop at the end of 2023, it didn’t take long for baker Gen Walter’s baked treats to build a fervent following.
Since then, the community surrounding the bakery has only grown stronger – even during the sudden closure of their Maylands location only nine months after opening.
Now, a year later, their new Leederville café has opened their doors – and we stopped by for a chat with Gen (above, left) and business partner Liz Younger (above, right) about the Smidge journey, and the Little Treat Lifestyle™️.
