A home in the former Freo Trades Hall is hitting the market

Plus a fairytale-inspired tech-park, "potbots" and lots more!

Shoutout to Petra who replied to one of these emails last week to simply say that we’re doing a fantastic job with the newsletter. We’re not seeking validation, but we will let you in on a fun little secret: most of the feedback we — along with a lot of online entities — receive is negative, mostly due to negativity bias. What’s negativity bias? Our brains being evolutionarily hardwired to pay more attention to negative stimuli that provokes stronger emotions, and us in turn to provide negative reviews.

It’s also the backbone of social media these days BUTTT I’m not gonna get too lost in the sauce here, and will assume no feedback is good feedback (you don’t hate this enough to let us know). But, it could be a fun little activity today for you to share some good feedback with someone or something — I can 100% guarantee they’ll appreciate it, and it might just put a little spring in your step, too*!

*Please enjoy this saccharine intro as I continue to bask in the glory of the cricket last weekend and ahead of the Christmas chaos this will no-doubt consume this entire office within the next week or two.

HOMES

A magnificent home in the former Fremantle Trades Hall is about to hit the market

You’ve probably walked right past this imposing Fremantle residence without realising it…

After all, the home is located at 6 Collie Street – just across the road from the Esplanade Hotel, truly in the thick of Fremantle’s historic streetscapes and vibrant hustle and bustle.

In fact, the home itself plays a significant part in that historic streetscape. With its foundation stone laid in 1901 by Sir John Forrest – WA’s first premier – the Federation Free Classical building was originally built as Fremantle’s Trades Hall, opening its doors officially in 1907.
