Well after a long week of handwringing and obsessing over weather charts, the day/weekend has finally arrived. Stay safe out there everyone, and if you were wondering what our plans were, they look a little something like this:

WHAT’S ON

No More Blank Walls is back, this time adding a splash of art to the streets of South Perth

A nine-day street art festival is coming to the City of South Perth this April, and it’s bringing some serious talent with it.

Running from April 10-18, the No More Blank Walls Mural Festival will see local, national, and international artists paint live murals across four suburbs — South Perth, Manning, Karawara and Kensington — transforming everyday walls into a sprawling outdoor gallery.

Among the headliners is Irish muralist Aches, whose vivid, chromatic style has earned him a global following. He’ll be joined by a strong West Australian contingent — Amok Island, Fieldey, James Giddy, Jarni and Rob Jenkins — alongside national artists Loretta Lizzio, George Rose and Justine McAllister.

The team behind South West Bottega to open new spot in Margaret River this April

If you loved what Marco Daquino and Damiano Suadoni did with the former Quill Collective in Vasse — reimagining it as the warm, Italian-inspired community hub South West Bottega — we’ve got some excellent news for you!

The duo are taking the concept a little further south, teaming up with local bakery Krissini to open Margaret River Bottega this April.

Think artisan breads and pastries fresh out of the oven, a deli stocked with cured meats, cheeses and pantry staples, and takeaway meals ready to go — lasagne, seasonal soups, fresh salads. The kind of place you pop in for a coffee and manage to leave with dinner sorted as well.

You’ll also find everyday essentials alongside small-batch, handmade products, including the team’s own locally produced, spray-free extra virgin olive oil — with the option to bring your bottle back in for a refill.
