The Forgotten Perth series has taken our fearless Cultural Editor Sally Hall down some strange rabbit holes over the past few years, but this week’s might be my absolute favourite - a photo essay documenting the long-lost Bindoon Rock. Now Melbourne-based photographer Steve Cook sent us a treasure trove of pics from his time as a young snapper at X-Press Mag, documenting the now infamous - and bikie-run - event back in 1989.

It’s well worth five minutes of your day, promise: “What followed is a memory fogged by Emu Lager and questionable life choices… Two days of debauchery: booze-soaked revelers, a smorgasbord of substances, and occasional scuffles that got swiftly snuffed by the festival’s ninja-like security.
