We’re talking Australian exclusive photography exhibitions, Easter long weekend street festivals, and a dance party hosted by one of our absolute favourite DJs.
Having just been stung by the dentist (get your teeth checked!), a skin specialist (get your moles checked!), and a bigger than expected water bill (dunno what’s going on here), today I am feeling particularly grateful for the quality of free-to-attend events Perth has to offer.

Crown’s Urban Food District opens
ICYMI: Crown’s Urban Food District has officially opened its doors, after months of teasing the tasty delights within.
Alongside LA cult fave Eggslut’s new burger joint, Las Vegas eateries Side Piece Pizza and sushi bar Tekka, plus local eatery Saigon Story from Bunn Mi chef/owner and Masterchef alum Jenny Lam, between winning streaks you’ll also get to tuck into food truck Taco Daddy’s Mexican street tacos (their first brick and mortar location!), Jom Kopitiam’s well-loved Malaysian fare, and slurp down some Chatime bubble tea (opening soon).
“Offering a mix of street food favourites and bold flavours designed for every taste, the Urban Food District is set to become one of Perth’s hottest destinations,” said Crown Perth CEO Brian Pereira. “With plenty of major Perth events around the corner, it’s going to be the perfect spot for late night bites, catching up with friends and soaking in the vibrant atmosphere.”

The Last Dance: Perth Festival closing out with huge free party hosted by Ningaloo Records
When Perth Festival 2026 winds down at the end of this month, there’ll be one last dancefloor calling.
On Saturday 28 February, the East Perth Power Station will light up for the Perth Festival 2026 Closing Party — a free-entry soirée by the Derbarl Yerrigan that promises sunset sounds and serious crate-digging energy.
Handpicked by local tastemaker Ningaloo Records and partner in crime Daniel ‘Ruff Jams’ Dalton, the night is all about celebrating another stellar Festival season with the people who make Boorloo’s creative community tick.
Expect a swirling exchange of music, movement and riverside atmosphere as the sun drops and the speakers warm up.

On (almost) this day 64 years ago (Feb 20), US astronaut John Glenn flew over WA while aboard Friendship-7. To mark the occasion the people of Perth and Rockingham said hello by switching their lights on, which Glenn was able to see from space!
And that’s why Perth is known as “The city of light”.
