Well after a wild week had some very wholesome community fun on the weekend — first visiting Northbridge Common’s Take5 Laneway Exhibition on Saturday. Long story short Northbridge’s Town Team gave out a bunch of disposable cameras last year and asked locals to take a few pics and pass it on, and Saturday’s exhibition was the end result. The pics were great but the laneway party with the Northbridge community getting together and enjoying a couple of drinks, some snacks and tunes while checking them out was the real winner.
Then onto a sold out screening at Luna of Nirvanna The Band The Show The Movie — and unfortunately it would be impossible to long story short that one. So I’ll just say the movies are back, and watching them in a packed theatre on the big screen is something that endlessly scrolling through five different streaming services you’re paying way too much for will never be able to replicate.

FORGOTTEN PERTH
From Bond to the Birnies: East Perth Watch House offers haunting insight into city’s notorious past
During its 40 years of operation, the East Perth Watch House hosted some of Western Australia’s most notorious detainees.
From 1975 until its closure midway through 2013, the facility saw an array of Western Australians pass through its heavily-guarded sally port. From weekend drunk and disorderly arrests to the state’s most hardened criminals, anyone arrested in the Perth metropolitan area likely found themselves an unwitting guest of the Watch House.
The list of detainees is as notable as it is long. Alan Bond was processed and remanded at the Watch House in 1990 after his arrest for violating corporate laws while former Premier, Brian Burke, spent time in the facility’s holding cells when he was arrested in 1992 for travel routs. David and Catherine Birnie, who murdered four women and attempted to kill a fifth at their Willagee home in 1986, were held at the Watch House prior to their various court appearances.
