How about that weather on the weekend hey?

^ I wrote this as a placeholder last week and for once a WA storm actually felt pretty legit, with the southwest in particular copping one of the strongest in almost 50 years. While my place just ended up with a few extra leaves kickin’ around, it was a lot worse for many — hope you came out relatively unscathed, and maybe next year we can ease into winter a little more calmly…

Comedy prince of Perth, Rove McManus shares his favourite spots with us

Some of us (cough cough) on the Perth is OK! team are old enough to have had our childhoods defined by free-to-air TV – our evenings set out each week by the printed program, getting more and more dogeared with each day it spent getting squashed under couch cushions.

And during this time, there was one name that dominated our screens: Rove McManus. Perth’s very own! The comedian spent over a decade as Australia’s leading talk show host and TV personality (not to mention three-time Gold Logie winner) – and since then, he’s remained a prolific producer, children’s book author and regular on the stand-up circuit.

Now, you can catch Rove on the latest season of Taskmaster Australia, joining fellow contestants Anisa Nandaula, Brett Blake, Joel Creasey and Celia Pacquola as they try to impress the unimpressable Taskmaster himself, Tom Gleeson.

Before you switch on your telly, though – Rove has shared his favourite places across Perth with us, from the pub that gave him his first job to his favourite trail to spot quendas and shy tawny frogmouths, and even the unexpected place he wants his ashes scattered…
