Magnolia BBQ is taking over Si Paradiso this Sunday

We were lucky to sneak in a dinner at Magnolia BBQ’s Modus pop up just before Christmas – and lucky we did, too: Magnolia have wrapped things up at Modus to focus on their new lease at Gwelup Fish & Chips, pivoting towards more one-off pop ups and private events.

“What makes this takeover really special for us is the relationship,” says Magnolia BBQ’s Jacob D’Vauz. “We’ve shared long friendships with the Si Paradiso team outside of the venue, so this feels like a genuine reciprocation of the support and trust within that group. Taking Magnolia BBQ into a space like Si Paradiso allows us to open it up to more people, while staying true to the flavours, fire and energy that define what we do.”

Joondalup Festival reveals spectacular 2026 program

Joondalup Festival will return this March, and the spectacular 2026 program has just been revealed – including mesmerising illuminated crystalline figures, elaborate theatre performed on the water, and vast floating puppets suspended in the sky.

The three week program will kick off on March 7, with a mix of free and immersive public spectacles alongside over a dozen ticketed events that will explore some every corner of Joondalup.

Signalling the festival's start will be the mystical, mysterious arrival of Crystal People: 52 glowing, luminescent figures who will rise from Sir James McCusker Park's shimmering lake, sensing changes in light and gently illuminating from within as the sun sets and night falls.
