Well the results from yesterday’s Cottesloe foreshore redevelopment poll are (mostly) in, and there were approximately 70 (at the time of publishing) of you who used to frequent the Cott Beach Hotel on Sundays when it had astroturf out the back. So it’s nice to know there’s still a few of you knockin’ about.

As for the actual poll, the ‘dig its’ have it with just over 53% of the vote, with 32% of you not super jazzed, and the rest yearning for the days of pink Ralph Lauren polo shirts with the collars up and lines as far as the eye can see.

COMMUNITY

From London to New York and now WA, Perth Gay Men’s Chorus takes the stage

Perth now has its own gay men’s chorus — and alongside looking for new members, they’re gearing up for their first ever performance, a debut concert seven months in the making.

Founded in October 2025 by WAAPA graduate and musical director, Joshua James Webb, The Perth Gay Men’s Chorus (PGMC) performs three-part choral arrangements of pop songs, with a particular lean toward Australian artists.

Webb drew inspiration from Low Rez, a Melbourne men’s choir he worked with between 2017 and 2020. “The community was strong and exciting, especially experiencing it as an outsider to the city,” Webb recalls. “I loved that balance and wanted to see if I could use it as inspiration to find Perth’s version of that.”

He held off on launching something similar until he was confident he’d find the same mix — and when the first PGMC rehearsal produced one member from every decade between their 20s to 70s (and the group managed to hold a three-part harmony from the jump), the decision was made.

“I thought: well I have to do this now.”
