While we share a lot of articles and videos about the various trails around Perth, it’s fair to say Trails WA is the one true authority on tackling them the right way. And probably as you’re reading this right now, the people behind Trails WA are at Kings Park launching their brand new (and free) app, to help you get out and see more of our State’s glorious trail network — and not getting lost while you do it!

Find out more below, along with Woodman Point’s revamped fishing jetty, details on Lightscape’s return this weekend, and get the goss on Fremantle’s new quasi-listening bar/cafe that’s only running until Saturday…

EXPLORE

New free app makes it easier, safer to explore WA's awesome trail network

The new Trails WA App officially launched this week, making it easier (and more importantly, safer) to explore Western Australia's epic trails network.

Built with support from Lotterywest and the WA Government, the free app brings together GPS navigation, official trail listings and storytelling content for more than 1000 of the state's verified trails — all in one place, with offline map capability for when you're somewhere with no signal.

The drop is timed to coincide with World Trails Day, which falls this Saturday 6 June, and the launch positions the app as both a celebration of what WA's trail network offers and a practical tool for getting more people out on it.

Café Music pops up in Freo

Since its inception in 2024, Fremantle’s Arrival Festival is a highlight on our cultural calendars – and this year, a highlight on our culinary calendars, too.

The team from Wines of While have taken over a former Italian café within the heritage-listed Phillimore Chambers, transforming it into Café Music.

Billed as “not quite a listening bar and not quite a dance party, but something in-between”, each night from 4pm the space will host a schedule of the town’s preeminent DJ talents, while serving a pared-back menu of classic cocktails (mini martinis, negronis et al.), beers, and simple snacking (no, really, think even simpler – chips and olives), the space functioning as a home base of sorts for festivalgoers sipping between sets.

Café Music will run until June 6 (this weekend) – but don’t get too upset, with the team planning on eventually opening a day-to-night café-bar concept. Watch this space!
