Walk through the crowd gathered in front of Smooth Operator on any given weekday morning and there’s a good chance you’ll be rubbing shoulders with some of the Perth is OK! team, who’ve made it a daily ritual since moving offices nearby a couple of years ago. And while we might not be getting out to their new Morley location quite as much, we sure are looking forward to getting back their ASAP after spending a morning with the gang last week.
Get the skinny (flat white) below, along with a little bit of Perth history flying into the Aviation Heritage Museum this weekend; a Chase & Status giveaway for those who love a rinse; and an explainer to help you prepare for the $100 fuel support payment on July 1.

Take it slow: Stereo Stereo opens in Morley, from the Smooth Operator and Twin Peaks crew
“The idea of this space is take it slow!“
Slowly does it, indeed. When we stop by for a chat, Fabian Zuffo is on the cusp of opening up his third café, Stereo Stereo – the launch of which we’ve been eyeing off for months. As it turns out, Stereo Stereo’s been years in the making.
“It’s a little ode to, ‘Oh, yeah, it only took us three years to open this,’ but to also being separated from the city – which means a bit more relaxed, a bit less corporate. And having a turntable where we’re gonna play records all day long, from open to close.”
The co-owner of two wildly popular coffee shops in the Perth CBD, Smooth Operator and Howard’s Groove – but for Stereo Stereo, Fabian has gone a little further afield to Morley.
The new venture also reinforces the long-running relationship between Fabian and partner Isabelle Morgan with Tom Greene, co-owner of Howard’s Groove and Stereo Stereo as well as owner of coffee roaster Twin Peaks, located just across the road.
“Tom found this space a while back and wanted to create something here – having a coffee shop at the front and then using the back space, and we decided to do it together again!”
