Now open: Kennedy Bay’s long-awaited Long Point Brewing Co.

It’s a tale of two coastal pubs this week — one a long-awaited opening on the beach in Port Kennedy. The other fighting to stay open as the beach threatens to swallow it up.

They say patience is a virtue.

That may be a very true statement for locals of Kennedy Bay, where reports of an incoming brewery have swirled since at least 2022.

Luckily, as the mid-point of 2026 arrives, so does Long Point Brewing Co.

And while the independent beer industry has always been a little bit industrious and DIY, where brewing pundits often open their breweries and taphouses in warehouses and old factories, down pokey alley ways or in old corner shops, Long Point has entered the scene a little differently.

It’s big, it’s polished and its backed by a $14 million budget.

Perth film lovers have plenty to look forward to in the second half of 2026, with a remarkable crop of foreign-language films heading our way following strong receptions at both Cannes and the Sydney Film Festival.

First of all is the Cannes Palme D’Or winner Fjord directed by Romanian Cristian Munjiu (Previous Palme D’Or winner in 2007 for 4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days). Starring previous Oscar nominees Renate Reinsve (Sentimental Value and this year’s megahit Backrooms) and Marvel superhero Sebastian Stan (The Apprentice) this will be one of the most talked about films of the year.
