While we did have a cheerful little 10 days ‘til Christmas vibe for today’s intro planned, events last night in Bondi have dictated otherwise. Like the rest of the country, our thoughts are with the victims and their families, the Jewish community and everyone impacted by yesterday’s terrorist attack.

Perth’s best restaurant, bar and café openings of 2025

Each year, amongst the mayhem of silly season, we take a moment to look back on the past 12 months in Perth’s eating and drinking.

A year ago, we were reflecting on a tumultuous, rollercoaster of a 2024 – and the same certainly rings true now. The hospitality landscape remains precarious, with news hitting our desks most days of the week of a long-running institution’s closure or a sparkling venue that shined oh so brightly, but oh so briefly.

But when we pause and take stock of all the venues that have emerged into the chaos of the year gone by, we’re yet again heartened by the huge number of fantastic additions to the city’s culinary culture – from genre-bending Vietnamese snack bars to buzzy sandwich spots that deserve the hype, to glitzy venues for the girl’s group chat to family-run food trucks and Irish pubs and cafés.

So here it is, in chronological-ish order: Perth’s best new restaurants, bars and cafés of 2025…
