Perth is OK!

Try as I might, I could not think of anything interesting, witty or engaging for today’s edition of the newsletter. And let me tell you — I tried. A good hour I reckon I sat staring at this. Waiting for inspiration to strike. Something… Anything?!

Alas, nothing. And you know what? Maybe it’s just a Tuesday in the middle of October… Summer’s warm (sweaty?) embrace is still on the horizon, the silly season’s scary shadow is beginning to creep into our field of vision and yet, at the same time, the holidays feel like they’re forever away.

Perhaps you’ll allow me to bend a quote from the late, great Walter Cronkite for my own purposes, and I shall see you tomorrow:

What sort of day will it be? A day like all days, filled with those events that alter and illuminate our times. And you’ll be there.

Pardon us for getting existential – maybe it’s the turning of the seasons, walking through homes awash with gentle spring sunshine…

But when it comes to creating a home, isn’t capturing a feeling the real crux of the matter? As trends come and go and tastes change, no style or aesthetic can last forever. But the way a space makes you feel, or how it serves your family? That’s timeless.

And who could deny the warmth of a home named the resident dachshund, Doug?

Doug’s House has been designed by Studio Roam – who you might recall as the same studio behind the stunning Lewis House, also in Cottesloe, as well as the incredible, instantly recognisable Brick House in Highgate….
