We love to see a new music festival announcement over in the west. In the current climate, where the logistical and financial pressures of putting one on are so huge (see: Laneway), we’re always gonna shout out folks having a crack — and DRIFT looks like one for the movers and shakers among us.
Speaking of moving and shaking, if you’d like to do so across the brand new Walyalup Bridge this Sunday you can, with the community open day kicking off from 9am–1pm at the most anticipated Western Australian bridge opening since… they fixed the truck-eating Baysie bridge.
Get all the deets below, along with another spectacular State of Kin home, a spooky new theatre production held inside a suitably spooky old building, and a few more haunted spots to visit if that’s still not enough for ya!

HOMES
Rosewood: A spectacular Mount Lawley home restored and reinvented
A home is a space always in flux: expanding, contracting and reinventing itself with its residents.
Arguably, the longer a home stands, the more iterations it will see – a sort of ship of Theseus, with each tweak and passing year sending it closer or further away from its original form, oscillating between sailboat and cargo ship as its layers are added and taken away.
And standing proudly for over a century is Rosewood: a grand 1914 Federation home in Mount Lawley, reimagined by architectural firm State of Kin.
The project articulates both the expanding and the contracting – refining and restoring the original heritage-listed home’s character, while extending it with a boldly contemporary addition.
