Perth is OK!

Good luck to all ghosts and ghouls getting amongst some Halloween hauntings this weekend!

Whilst one could look at it as another unnecessary slice of Americana invading the Australian way of life, we prefer to look at it like this: What a fantastic excuse to get the kids out into the neighbourhood and actually meet other families and people in your local community?

It’s also a great opportunity to have some fun, organise some silly* dress-ups and go to a spooky party, if you feel so inclined. Or if you prefer to stay in, there’s no better excuse to catch up on a few scary movies and eat some candy while you do it.

Because come Monday, we’re back on the grind and doing NONE of these fun things — the choice is yours 🎃

*or if you’re like my wife, dressing up as the cool and normal Travis Bickle from Taxi Driver.

Perth rents keep rising, but would a cap help or hinder?

What a week in finance. Inflation remains sticky. The Reserve Bank is tipped to raise the cash rate. And here in Perth, property prices are down while rents continue to soar.

Safe to say, there’s a bit going on.

Locally, a new report this week from real estate data group Cotality has shown the Perth property boom has run out of steam. We’ve known that for a while, but what’s new is that the Perth market has given away all its gains of 2026. Basically, it’s back to neutral this year for owners.
