Happy Western Derby weekend to all who celebrate. I’m not gonna cheekily suggest an Eagles win given last time I did, they lost by a cool 128 points, so let’s just hope for a good game and you get the outcome you’re after (looking at you, nervous Dockers fans).
Don’t care about footy? Well you’re in luck, as always there’s plenty going on around town along with some cool new spots visit (a few suggestions below), and we will see you on Monday!

Step into Subiaco’s Revival Studios: a barbershop and retail space serving specialty matcha
“We didn’t want to create something one-dimensional.”
Tucked away in Subiaco Village, a young trio of creatives have come together to create Revival Studios – one part matcha bar and café, one part barbershop, and one part retail space.
“While we each have our own specialties, Revival isn’t divided in a strict way,” the team explains. “The barber might help shape retail direction, the café influences the atmosphere of the whole space, and everything feeds into one shared vision. It’s less about separation and more about collaboration, creating a space where all elements coexist and elevate each other.”
The team is made up of barber Newton Tran, who they describe as the “mastermind” behind Revival Studios; Newton’s partner and matcha enthusiast Jasmine Truong, whose focus is the café; and Alex Nguyen, who’s taking the lead on the retail space alongside barbering.
