A busy little Thursday newsletter today, including a very cool retro Bicton home that’s just hit the market; beloved WA music festival In the Pines has dropped their 2026 lineup; few hundred big rigs are rolling into Byford next week; and heaps of food news including where to score some free soft serve on Saturday — if you’re quick!
Plus down the bottom you’ll find a fun giveaway thanks to the folks at Electric Island. A dance music festival on the beach at Cottesloe, they’ve got some huge acts visiting over April 18 and 19, and we’ve got a double pass for one lucky reader to go to both days!

HOMES
Take a peek inside this Bicton retro beauty
We are but simple folk… Show us a bit of terrazzo, maybe a few kitschy, retro details? We’re on board – and this Bicton home has plenty of both!
You may have driven past this Canning Highway home – but hidden behind an established garden, you probably didn’t catch a glimpse of its ’60s charm. Thankfully, we’re here to set you straight.
Wrapping around the home’s front, a large balcony is enclosed in curlicues of retro balustrade, its floor a fantastic geometric patchwork of terrazzo tiles. Connecting to the balcony at the front of the home, a large living room is chock-a-block with retro details – from the timber floorboards to the stone-clad fireplace to the feature brick.
Our eyes, though? Straight to those painted sliding glass doors, depicting flamenco dancers, flamingos and cocktails.
