When it comes to iconic restaurants in Perth over the years, the 33-storeys-high, rotating wonder that is C Restaurant in the Sky has to be (literally) up there. Which made the news yesterday that they’ll be shutting up shop in January a very sad start to the week!

While we didn’t particularly frequent it too often, one of our first ever big team lunch outings was dressed up in very fancy clothes and heading up to C for a very serious business lunch.

It won’t quite make it to 50 years — the restaurant opened in 1978 — but it’s still one hell of an innings, and worthy of at least one last pop-in over the next few months…

Broad Arrow Tavern: The 130-year-old pub in a WA ghost town

Two houses, a population of eight – and a pub.

Built in 1896, the Broad Arrow Tavern is almost all that remains of the once-thriving Goldfields town of the same name, 38 kilometres north of Kalgoorlie.

And in spite of its single-digit population, the Broad Arrow Tavern is still going strong today.

"We're not a nighttime pub, but weekends – everyone comes out here on the weekend," says Tammy Fischer, the tavern's manager and current steward. "Bikes, buggies, families. You know, there's no skimpies here! So we've got the playground out the back."
