Happy Friday the 13th to those who celebrate — and we are feeling in a celebratory mood! Is it the glorious winter sun? Or is it just the last day before what’s looking like an absolutely delightful August weekend?
Or, and this is perhaps the most likely cause, it was the three-martini lunch the editorial team got to enjoy yesterday celebrating half a decade of Sally Hall on the tools at Perth is OK! Serving up well north of 1,500 articles over that journey, Sal has been instrumental in shaping who we are as a publication, especially in the hospo and homes space.
And not coincidentally, you can enjoy another of her articles — and some of her pics — down below, after the team took a trip down to Piazza Fremantle to meet the man behind Morso Conti, another stellar addition to what has quickly become one very cool little spot.

Perth Zoo launches bird flu vaccine trial for endangered black cockatoos
A new vaccination for bird flu is being trialled at Perth Zoo for three of its threatened black cockatoo species.
In the Australia-first trial, Perth Zoo is piloting a vaccination study to help provide safeguards for endangered species in the event of a bird flu outbreak.
The study, which commenced in May, focuses on three of the zoo’s permanent black cockatoo species, including Carnaby’s, Baudin’s and forest red-tailed black cockatoos.
It will aim to monitor the birds for any adverse reactions, helping track how effectively the vaccine may be in protecting black cockatoos – and other vulnerable wildlife – from bird flu.

Morso Conti: the sandwich-slinging pop up at Piazza Fremantle
We’ve been saying the word piazza so much these days we sound like an Italian tour guide. But really, can you blame us?
In an era of brick-and-mortar doom and gloom, Piazza Fremantle has become one of Perth’s most exciting precincts – and a real testament to how an engaged, motivated landlord (in this instance, the Piazza’s new owner Bronwyn Owen) can impact a city’s creative and culinary landscape.
But we’re getting ahead of ourselves – we’ll be talking plenty about all the fun stuff happening at the Piazza, but for the moment we want to focus in on one very tasty conti kiosk.
Morso Conti takes over the cute, yellow-roofed kiosk previously home to Palette’s “Pally Canteen” pop up, which ran until March this year…
