Gonna keep this brief because I’m being a good boy and getting today’s newsletter done the day before instead of leaving it until the last minute like usual. Why early? ‘Cause I’m off to my fave Freo restaurant for dinner — Capri!

See you tomorrow, which is somehow, already, Friday.

The Perth nurse designing scrubs putting a smile on patients' faces

Charlotte Lowery didn’t set out to start a fashion brand, more so just wanted to make a difficult job feel a little brighter.

A UK-trained textile designer who found herself in Perth during the pandemic — and then found herself falling in love with nursing — Charlotte has spent the past few years slowly merging her two worlds. The result is Soulful Scrubs, a Perth-based scrub brand built around one simple idea: colour makes people feel better.

“I was learning a lot about colour, creativity and psychology, while also working in environments that could often feel quite heavy and emotionally demanding,” she says. “One day I saw someone wearing a fun pair of scrubs at work and it shifted the energy around them. Patients noticed, staff noticed, and it felt lighter and more human.”

That moment planted a seed. Charlotte went home and designed her own print — high contrast, deliberately vibrant — and wore it to her next shift…
