I’ll keep today’s intro brief on account of one foot being firmly out the long weekend door, but a heartfelt shoutout to Young George, closing its doors tonight after 10 years elevating East Fremantle’s dining scene to some seriously lofty heights. Find out more in food news down the bottom…
And for the rest of ya — whatever the next four days may entail, may they be filled with a few cheeky chocolates, some friends and fam, a wee bit of relaxation, and dare we say it, another West Coast win?

Time for a Top Up — vote for WA’s best wine and win a $10K getaway for you and three pals
Top Up Wines has opened voting for its second annual Top 100, the WA public vote that asks wine lovers to pick the state’s best drops rather than leaving it to the judges.
More than 20,000 votes came in during last year’s inaugural run, which saw Ampersand Estate’s Pinot Noir ultimately taking the top spot ahead of Stella Bella’s Luminosa Cabernet Sauvignon and Cherubino’s Ad Hoc Pinot Grigio.
And now the competition is open again, with wineries big and small across the state vying for a spot on the list.
The concept is straightforward: head to topupwines.com, vote for the wines you actually drink, and see how WA’s collective taste shakes out.

This time the dynamic duo popped into Manning Japanese restaurant Hiyori — a delightfully tranquil spo — to enjoy one of their tasty, picture-perfect teishoku lunch sets.
(In case you're wondering, they shared the cod and the wagyu — both great.)
