New plans to activate Freo’s empty HJ’s site while its future hangs in limbo

A former Hungry Jack’s that has been sitting dormant along Fremantle’s high-street for almost eight years could finally be getting its long-awaited revamp.

Located on the corner of South Terrace and Essex Street, a building lies very dormant in the heart of Fremantle’s town centre.

Once home to a popular fast-food joint that served as a thriving but equally chaotic hangout spot for young people, the site has since been fading into the background, turning into a relic of the past.

But last month, murmurs of change gossiped through the streets (of social media) after urban renewal organisation Spacemrkt made a post to its Instagram…
