Well that'll teach me for whinging about hot weather ahead of time after copping an absolute drenching on the way to work yesterday morning. Who knows what today/tomorrow/the weekend has in store for us…
While we can’t control or predict the weather, we can control this newsletter, in which you’ll find some cool news if you like things that go really fast; fun news if you're a ping pong fan; sad news if you’re a Nieuw Ruin fan; great news for fans of Minjee Lee; and excellent news if you’re looking for a coffee and/or beer on Monday (there’s heaps of spots open).
Have a lovely long weekend whatever you end up doing — you’ve earnt it.

The WA drag racing legend building a 1,000mph rocket car to become the fastest man on Earth
Most people are starting to slow down in their 70s.
Rosco McGlashan OAM is trying to go 1,000 miles per hour.
Inside a workshop in Western Australia sits the Aussie Invader 5R — a bi-propellant rocket-powered land speed car designed to break the current world land speed record and push past the mythical 1,000mph barrier (that’s more than 1,600km/h).
Rosco’s obsession with speed didn’t begin in a lab or a university lecture theatre. It began at the ripe old age of 12 years old. He left home. Upped his age to 16. Went north in WA to work and fund a racing career.
And that stubbornness has been a driving force that has defined his life and career since.
