Did you have any new year’s resolutions for 2026? Do you even remember? A weird question to ask in June I know (that’s right, it’s June now). Well anyway I only remember one of mine because I’ve actually kinda, sorta, somewhat, stuck to it. And that was to buy less takeaway coffees this year, just to try and save a couple of dollarydoos.
Outside of me bragging, point being we recently went on a little mission to find out what’s going on with the price of coffee at the moment, which you can read over your morning brew, below:

Why is coffee in Perth getting so expensive? What’s driving the rising cost of your daily brew
If you’ve noticed the price of your morning coffee creeping up – you’re not alone.
In our youths you could get a coffee for just a few bucks (let’s get you to bed, grandma), then $4.50 became the going price, and now it’s pushing $6 or more. Don’t even get us started on alternative milks!
For a lot of people, that daily cup feels like it’s getting harder to justify – even in our coffee-loving office, there’s been more and more replies of “No thanks, I’ll make one here” for our mid-morning coffee runs.
But it’s not just cafés randomly hiking prices.
“The price of coffee has gone up for a handful of reasons,” explains Daniel Ash, owner and operator of Osborne Park coffee roaster Micrology. “About two years ago, we saw the commodity price of coffee, which is essentially how global coffee is traded, jump almost double – in fact, more – for a period.”
